Ipswich Town - best team in the country

There was always homely feel to Bobby Robson's Ipswich Town. A family-owned club at the time (by the Cobbold, who made their money through beer, which has to be a good thing), they seemed to be summed up by the tale that Roger Osbourne fainted upon scoring the winner in the 1978 FA Cup final and had to be substituted.

A mixture of innovative signing (The Dutchmen Frans Thijssen amd Arnold Muhren) and domestic talent (Terry Butcher, Russell Osman), they became, at the start of the eighties, as Robson said in this film'the best team in the country'. The fact that they didn't win a title to prove it shows football isn't always fair, but it's worth remembering this, arguably their finest hour, the first leg when they blitzed AZ Alkmaar to virtually seal the 1981 Uefa Cup, though it came close at the end.
